Which is why we did not have badminton in June. I think it is a pretty fair reason. Congratulations to her and Chris.

Sorry for the delay in badminton. Due to other things going on and such, I was not prepared to plan badminton, and Mum was not prepared to have you all invade her house.

But we're ready now.

This years' first DBBBL tournament will take place on July 16, at 1pm in Ashley's backyard.

All the usual things apply:
-BYOB. please remember that shooting alcohol must be a minimum of 15%
-SIGN UP. Or you don't get food. Food is served around 6. food sign up closes whenever we go grocery shopping, usually the night before.
-CLOTHING DISAPPEARS. sometimes. during play. just in case you forgot. you may see nipples.


Most important item there is to SIGN UP. Even if you don't plan to eat our food, it helps us prepare for how many people will be present, and how many will be playing. If you do not sign up, or bring friends that haven't signed up, we can USUALLY rearrange things to fit you in if you show up before 5pm. If not, there is often a chance to sub in when people get stupiddrunk.

So, Amy and I made the decision on when to hold this thing DAYS ago, and it just occured to me that maybe, if we want people to show up, I should let YOU know the day as well.
Good Plan, eh?

July 20th. And Mum's gonna be away, so we have to be extra well behaved. I'm putting you all in charge of keeping me(Ashley) in line, kay?

The basics:
1 - BYOB. You need a drinking alcohol (any %), and a shooting alcohol (15% min).
2 - snacks. We may or may not provide chips. If you are absolutely needing these, maybe bring some along.

August Badminton was won by Josh LeBlanc and Ashley Jones!
Josh is a multiple winner, and Ashley is now the last of our founders to finally get her name on the trophy! Congrats, and good games to all our participants! We'll see you in September!

As always, you need to bring some booze. Can't have Death by Booze Badminton without booze.

Our season closer was the second largest tourney we've held yet, with 9 pairs playing, and more people there just to watch. It was also our LONGEST event yet, with the finals finishing about 3:30 am.

Thanks you everyone for another fantastic year of Vodka Badminton. We'll be putting some serious thought and discussion into some rule adjustments for next year, to help prevent things from going as long as they did last night when we have a larger group present (it did start to drag quite a bit, and that shouldn't happen with DBBBL!), and to adjust our general alcohol intake to something that works better for ... less experienced drinkers, so everyone can enjoy the night, without the worry of getting OVERLY STUPIDLY drunk (there's a point where its just not fun, y'know?).

So again, thanks for this year, we hope to see you again next year!

Well, we almost decided not to play after drawing the teams. Josh_LeBlanc and Knuckles_D got paired up together, spelling almost certain doom for everyone else, what with them being two of our best players.

But, we played it out, cuz you never REALLY know what will happen.

We were right though.
Josh and Knuckles came out the winners of our July badminton tournament. Congratulations! Its about time Knuckles got his name on the trophy...he's been working hard for it since we started this thing. Also, great sportsman, and I'd like to give him props for doing a good few extra shots through the night as I got too drunk to do both mine and my partner's shots.

Runners up were Kabetz and Aaron, who made a pretty good showing, but couldn't quite pull the win out. Maybe next time.

So, we had a pretty good showing for our first badminton this year!
9 teams played, and while everyone played their best, we could only have one team win.

I am pleased to announce that ourfirst DBBBL winners of 2011 are Josh_LeBlanc and Kendra Holmgren! Kendra was brand new to our game, and of course...Josh now has his name on our trophy way too many times. I'm thinking of drugging him next time so someone else has a chance. ^_~
Second place went to Andre and Ayrton, who fell to the lower bracker in their first game, but kicked ass after that to make it to the finals.

Its a mere two weeks until the big day! Who's excited!?
Hopefully all of you who are planning to attend answered yes.

On that note, a few reminders for those who will be attending (we've got some newbies coming, so this will be new info for you, so please read carefully!):

First off, if you haven't done so already, please sign up! It helps us to plan how much food we need to buy, and nobody misses out on delicious noms. Also lets me know how many people I can expect to have passed out at my house overnight.

- Sign Up Here!

- BYOB! You need to bring alcohol to hold/drink while playing, and for shooting. The alcohol to shoot MUST be a minimum of 15% alc/vol.
If you do not want to travel with alcohol, you have until NEXT Saturday (June 11th) to get money to either myself or AprilFire so we can pick it up for you in advance.

- If you are driving, and planning to drink, please be prepared to hand your keys over to Grail for safekeeping until he deems you sober enough to drive.

- Please review the Rules. We are playing tournament rules, which are listed toward the bottom of the linked page. Thank you.

- Its a double knockout doubles tournament. Partners will be assigned MOSTLY randomly. Drinking players can have either a drinking or non-drinking partner. Non-drinking players MUST have a drinking partner. Partners of non-drinking players are required to do their partner's shots (as with all our drinking rules, once you are completely trashed, required shots/drinks become at the referees discretion).

- This one usually sneaks up on people because its not official game rules, but we play a Party Rule of "You spill, You (or your drinking partner) shoot". If at any time, on court or off, you spill your drink, you are required to take a shot. We recommend your holding drink be in a bottle to help prevent spills. You cannot use capped bottles, or sport sealed bottles (ex. Gatorate/Powerade bottles).

- We're playing RAIN OR SHINE.

You will notice that I have provided (as always) our handy dandy sign up sheet. Please, please, please fill out the form if you intend to come! It lets us know how many people to expect, and thusly how much food we will need.

Sorry for the late update here! I remembered to update the RT group while I was completely tanked on Saturday night, but I wasn't quite coordinated enough to remember TWO SEPERATE WEBSITES. And I've been doing that one longer.

Quite well, too. They played fantastically. It was an epic battle for the win.


The day turned out sunny (the evening/night was another matter entirely), and we had wonderful attendance. It was great seeing everyone there, whether they were playing or not. There were some DAMN good games played, even before the finals. In the pouring rain no less, when we got to the end. It was impressive, and wonderfully fun.

It was a great end to our badminton season. I hope to see everyone next year! :D

Its a sad day. The day I announce the FINAL DBBBL tournament of the year.
That's right. Last time this year to get smashingly drunk and potentially win our fabulous little tournament.

Its BYOB again, though we do still have a bit of beer left over from last time. We don't have ANY shooters though, so don't forget to bring your own shooting alcohol. Some people may be willing to share, but you really are supposed to provide your own shooter.

Another successful night!

As I like to explain it, the goal is to get drunk and badminton is just a side effect. Once again, we successfully reached that goal. And once again, we ended up with winners of our incidental badminton tournament.

Congrats to Josh_LeBlanc and DemonAkasha for winning our August tournament. That's two in a row for mr Josh_LeBlanc...he should be very proud.
It was a great night, everyone played really well. Knuckles_D and lukemckay made an excellent showing, fighting hard for their second place standing. The rest of us...well, we were there. And drunk. Exactly as we should be. And now I've had the honour of passing that on to you all, I'm going to go pass out now. Exactly as I should.

We're working on an easy way to make that payment, and hope to have it available for you shortly.

We are still providing you with hamburgers and hotdogs. Cuz we're awesome like that.

Hey Hey to our Vancouver (BC) players! I have half an apology to make. Aprilfire and I had sort of said that we would try to do a Badminton each month this summer. The 'try' is why I'm only half apologizing for the fact that we will not be able to get one going for July. We just don't have the time. We will DEFINITELY be doing one in August though. Don't know date yet, but we will do one.

Also, I would like to say that ALOT of people came to our June tourney! It was AWESOME, and I hope that we see most of you out at the next one.

However, on that note: that is a lot of people to buy beer for. ^^; We were wondering if you would be terribly offended if for the next one we asked if you would either chip in to our beer fund, or do a fully BYOB? Between the alcohol for the jello shots,the beer, and the food, we severely depleted poor Aprilfire's bank account (I'm unfortunately unemployed, so I couldn't help nearly as much as I wanted to), and while we love being generous...well, life's expensive, as I'm sure you are all aware ^_^

First off, I want to thank everyone for coming out! We had our best turn out yet, and everyone was simply fantastic! It was unfortunately a little slower going than we usually like, since we only had one of our courts set up, but even just the hanging out was super awesome. Our plan of starting early to avoid the late night didn't turn out quite as we planned, due to the fact we attempted a double knock out fomat instead of our usual single knock out, for the first time, but all in all I think it went pretty well.

That said, I have to congratulate our first Vodka Badminton champions of 2010, Josh_LeBlanc and unkowngamer!

I'll try to get some our pics up tomorrow in our forum (yes, it will be a facebook link...live with it :P) and I hope to update you all soon on when we will be holding our next event!

REMINDER:

We provide cheap beer and jello shots (3 equals 1 game-required shot). YOU provide your shooting alcohol and any alternate drink you would like.

QUESTION:

Is anyone on the attending list that does NOT intend to play badminton?

QUESTION:

Are you attending and not drinkig alcohol? we will have limited soda available for non-drinkers.

On both those points, we assume everyone will be PLAYING and DRINKING unless they tell otherwise.

REMINDER:

Pairings will be drawn, and rules state that non-drinkers must have a drinking partner, so we gotta know who's allowed to be paired with whom. Thank you.

QUESTION:

Who is expecting to sleep over? Its not a problem, but if we know, we know how many blankets we need and stuff.

If you drive and are not down as not drinking, you will hand your keys to Grail. No objections, no exceptions. You get your keys back on his judgement.

As always, we're sorry our out of district members can't be here for the fun, but we encourage everyone to set up their own drunken Badminton nights. And if you do, please share! We'd love to know how other people pull these off ^_^

We're starting a little earlier for this one, in the hopes of causing slightly less late-night neighbourhood disturbance, but I hope that you guys will still be out and willing. Let us know if this is a problem...I'm sure we can negotiate.

It'll be from 1:30 pm until whenever, Saturday June 26 at Aprilfire's house/yard. As usual, we will provide hot dogs, hamburger, and plenty of cheap beer (Kokanee), but anything else is up to you to provide (such as your shooting alcohol, mixes, or different beer).
